Although only few certain harmonic structures in the song “Popular” resemble to the main theme of “Uptown Girl”, the plagiarism is easy to be identified.

One of the melodic sequences of the song „Popular„, which is inserted twice in the three-minute song, is similar to the main harmonic construction of the song „Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel, launched in 1983.

The music and the lyrics of the song „Popular” are signed by Fredrik Kempe. The singer is Eric Saad, 20. The story is about a young man who wants to conquest the heart of the girl he loves, by becoming famous and deserving appreciation.
